Holly Barden
Stadtler graduated with a B.S. in Broadcast
Journalism and a minor in political science
from James Madison University. She began her
career at NBC Nightly News where she spent six
years and worked first as a Production
Secretary, then Unit Manager, and finally
Production Manager for Nightly News and the
Today Show. In 1990 she joined Discovery
Channel Pictures and worked as an Associate
Producer, Coordinating Producer, and Producer
on over 100 hours of programming for Discovery
and TLC. Her experience includes work on shows
in all genres from history to science and
technology including a high concentration of
natural history films.
In 1996 she directed THE MAKING OF THE LEOPARD SON for Discovery and went on to create Dream Catcher Films, Inc. Since then she has produced and directed documentaries for the Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, TBS Superstation, National Geographic Television as well as independent documentaries.
Dream Catcher Films' mission is to create films that make a difference. These media tools should influence behavior and attitudes by informing, entertaining, and creating dialogue, action and motivation in people that will in turn bring about change to an individual's life, community, or even the world.
Stadtler's awards include 5 CINE Golden Eagles, 4 Golds, 2 Silvers, and a Bronze from Houston Worldfest, a Gold award at the Chicago TV Fest, a Silver Medal at the NY Film Festival, and a National News & Documentary Emmy nomination plus many others.

present
Started production company to
produce documentaries for broadcast. Manage
full-time, part-time employees and independent
contractors. In 1997 we completed a one-hour
science documentary COMA: THE SILENT EPIDEMIC
which aired on The Discovery Channel and a
one-hour natural history film entitled
FOOTSTEPS OF A BEAR which aired on Animal
Planet. In 1998, we completed BURIED ALIVE for
Discovery Channel, and in 1999, we completed
THE MULTIPLE PERSONALITY PUZZLE, a one-hour
documentary for TLC. In 2000, we completed
TROUBLED WATERS about endangered wildlife in
the Everglades which aired on TBS Superstation.
AMERICA'S LAST RED WOLVES, a half-hour
documentary for National Geographic Television
about endangered red wolves aired on MSNBC
August, 2003. Completed this year - KILIMANJARO
FOR HOPE, a one-hour documentary. Film awards
include 5 Cine Golden Eagles, silvers, golds
and bronzes from the NY Film Festival,
Worldfest Houston, Chicago TV Fest, a National
Emmy nomination and others.
THE DISCOVERY CHANNEL, BETHESDA,
MD Producer May 1993 - August 1996
Directed, wrote and produced THE MAKING OF
THE LEOPARD SON, a 50:00 documentary that
explores how a wildlife film is made in the
remote bushlands of Tanzania. Wrote, edited and
produced trailers for Discovery original
productions including company's first
theatrical release, THE LEOPARD SON. Produced
and edited international versions of original
productions. Worked closely with Executive
Producer offering input at rough cut and fine
cut stage for quarterly specials as well as
series of 10 one-hour wildlife documentaries.
Managed production assistant, researcher, and
interns. Represented the company at the NAB
Convention, the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film
Festival, Women in Film and Video, and CINE
film festival. Researched and compiled detailed
report on the feasibility and concerns involved
in producing large-format films. Associate
Producer May 1992 - May 1993 Advised producers
on production issues and provided editorial
input as directed by Executive Producer; kept
abreast of latest technologies for film and
video and secured equipment for top-of-the line
projection of specials for screenings across
the country. Produced cut-to-clock versions and
supervised edit sessions for cuts to specials;
tracked deliverables; provided materials
(promotional footage and artwork, treatments,
rough and fine cuts, and masters) for
international sales, home video, IAV media, and
marketing departments. Production Coordinator
April 1991 - May 1992 Coordinated all facets of
production for high-profile quarterly specials
and series (50 hours of programming in various
stages) including location shoots, scheduling
of productions, packaging of promotional
footage, and post production requirements
through final delivery and airing.

Developed and maintained substantial
client list for pet-sitting service. Managed
contracting, billing, hiring, promotion.
Designed and wrote advertising copy.
NBC NEWS, WASHINGTON, DC
Production Manager March 1988 - May 1989
Researched and coordinated production
elements of remote news specials and NIGHTLY
NEWS in Washington; ordered facilities and
manpower; arranged satellite/microwave
transmission. Contracted outside vendors;
negotiated price of equipment and services;
acted as liaison between NBC & government
agencies. Supervised freelance employees;
approved employee expenses; managed show
budgets. Acted as Pool Unit Manager for major
networks' coverage of Reagan's Farewell Address
(January, 1989) and his return to Andrews Air
Force Base after European Economic Summit
(June, 1988). Production Secretary May 1985 -
March 1988 Coordinated travel arrangements;
tracked productivity reports; secured White
House/Congressional clearance for NBC
employees. Observed production of news remotes;
interpreted union contracts; supported five
Production Managers.
