Barr Weissman

Barr Weissman is an editor and
producer. In 1984 he served as editor and
associate producer of the Academy Award-winning
"The Stonecarvers". He directed and edited
several segments for the Kennedy Center Honors
and co-produced and edited "Mr. Justice
Brennan", a one hour biography for PBS, which
recently won top honors from the National
Education Association and the American Bar
Association. He produced "Submarines: Life On A
Boomer" for the Discovery Channel which won a
Gold Award at the Houston International Film
Festival, and with his wife Linda Goldman,
produced, videographed and edited "A Short
Piece Of My Life" chronicling a young family's
struggle with breast cancer which aired on PBS.
Since 1998 he has produced and edited the story
segments for the National Memorial Day Concert
broadcast live on PBS each May.
He produced and independently distributed two critically acclaimed documentaries: "Home: The Langston Terrace Dwellings" and "A View From The Street: The Art of Lily Spandorf." These works were funded by the NEA, NEH and other private foundations. Awards include: The Golden Gate award, San Francisco International Film Festival; Finalist, The American Film and Video Festival, and Cine Gold Eagles. Both films were screened at festivals worldwide and at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
Editing credits include: "The Making
of the Leopard Son" (merit award for editing,
The 20th Annual International Wildlife Film
Festival); "Invisible Places: Subtropolis",
"Coma: The Silent Epidemic" for the Discovery
Channel and "The Multiple Personality Puzzle"
for TLC; "A Moment of Excellence" for
Time-Life's Lost Civilizations series; "The
Power of Water", a National Geographic Special;
"The Battle for The Great Plains" for the
Audubon Society, and "Throwaway People" and
"Inside Gorbachev's U.S.S.R" for PBS Frontline.
Other awards include the Silver Award for
special achievement in editing at the Chicago
International Film Festival.
